The kitchen still has the old cabinets from the 1920s. In the 1920s, low cabinets were popular. Today, the bottom of the cabinets are higher, which allows for more room when using the countertops, and just looks lighter and more open.
Here we have the beginning of the subway tile installation. The wall where the cabinets once were has been smoothed.
Here we have the completion of the east wall. Note: the stool and countertop extension are where the refrigerator was previously situated.
This shows the continuation of the subway tile, with a nice accent row suggested by the client. It does look nice. This picture shows how the countertop was able to extended by moving the refrigerator next to the stove. This was made possible by trimming off the bottom of the cabinets.
The customer decided to have this cabinet trimmed so that the refrigerator could be moved next to the stove.
This shows how the cabinets have been modified to accept the refrigerator. All that still needs to be done is to remove the old countertop which is to the left of the stove.
